▶ APPEARANCE & FASHION: Makoto is a fair-skinned woman of average height with hazel eyes and short, brown hair with lighter accents. She has a curvy figure with well-defined muscles. Due to being a squirrel-type demi-human, she has squirrel ears, as well as a big, fluffy brown tail.
When at work, she can be seen wearing her NOL uniform (sometimes accompanied by a poncho). Outside of work, she tends to wear fairly revealing outfits in orange and black coloring, such as tops, shorts or short skirts.

▶ DEMEANOR & ATTITUDE: Makoto is cheerful, energetic and optimistic. She's friendly and kind to everyone that isn't outright hostile to her. She's very proactive and more than ready to drag other people into stuff. She's confident and won't take any slights against her friends lightly, often acting on pure instinct.
▶ VOICE: She is voiced by Tomomi "Isocchi" Isomura. She always peppy and can get a little loud, often joking around and making silly references.
▶ MAGIC & TELEPATHY: Despite being a demi-human, she's otherwise unremarkable as far as supernatural abilities go. She can use Ars Magus, which is a canon-specific combination of magic and technology, which is common in her world, so it's not considered to be out of ordinary. She has no means of protecting herself against telepathy or mind reading, and while doing so one might notice that despite her outward bright attitude, deep inside she carries a lot of distrust and uncertainty.

Born as the eldest daughter to a big family of squirrel-type demi-humans, Makoto grew up in a somewhat poor but lively household, surrounded by her numerous siblings. While a family like that could prove troublesome at times, she was raised with love and cared deeply for her relatives in return. Unfortunately, things weren't quite as happy outside her family ─ Makoto was often looked down upon due to her demi-human heritage, facing discrimination, awful gossips, mean comments and all sorts of prejudice from people who treated her more like a dirty animal than a person. Due to those experiences, Makoto started acting cold and aloof towards others, oftentimes resorting to threats and aggression to get people to leave her alone, as she believed she might as well behave as poorly as they expected her to.

Eventually she decided to enroll into the Novus Orbis Librarium's Military Academy in pursuit of a job at the NOL, which would help her family financially. While there, she was met with the usual prejudice ─ and, surprisingly, some unsuspecting allies who chose to side with her in the face of bullying from other students. Said allies were her roommates at the Academy: Tsubaki Yayoi, the heiress to one of the most important noble families and a member of the student council, and Noel Vermillion, an adopted daughter of the lower-class noble family who also enrolled into the Academy to help out her family. The three of them grew extremely close throughout their time at the Academy and would continue to care about one another deeply even after the graduation.
