This is an official OOC post for signing up for the Halloween Concert held on October 31st at the Blossomcrown Concert Venue.

Along with music acts, there will also be opportunities to man food and drink stands (for breaktimes between) or help those attending the concert dress up in a Halloween aesthetic way at the costume workshop.

Those who already signed up to help with arrangements here don't need to sign up again.

The mingle will go up on the day of the concert!

DW is seeing some issues due to today's Amazon outage. For right now it looks like the site is loading, but it may be slow. Some of our processes like notifications and journal search don't appear to be running and can't be started due to rate limiting or capacity issues. DW could go down later if Amazon isn't able to improve things soon, but our services should return to normal when Amazon has cleared up the outage.

Edit: all services are running as of 16:12 CDT, but there is definitely still a backlog of notifications to get through.

Edit 2: and at 18:20 CDT everything's been running normally for about the last hour.

Hi there, Ellipsa!

Today I'm making a bit of announcements plus a call for some volunteers:

1. The Technology Club will be working in conjunction with the Welcome Center! We'll be having Powerpoints and learning areas for any basic tech for those who have just arrived there. So if anybody who is either in the club or is well versed in technology in general would like to volunteer some hours, that would be great.

2. Secondly! While infrequent, Otherworlders do die on occasion. And while they do come back, dying sucks and can be something that is trying mentally and emotionally, even if physically... well. Which is why I'd like to offer up a new (unofficial) service for that! Basically, I'd like volunteers to help me out with checking out flower yards and offering to those who have newly died a gift basket full of goodies for them. Also: if any businesses would like to volunteer in filling these gift baskets as well for future purposes, feel free to get into contact with me.

tl;dr:
- Basic tech stuff will be taught at the Welcome Center for newbies, tell your friends
- New services for Otherworlders that have died recently, gift baskets will be offered
- Volunteers needed for both of these

That should be it. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, feel free to give me a shout; I'll answer as I can.

So... I've been thinking about it for a bit and decided to finally throw an idea out.

[He smiles, brightly.]

Since we have the Arts Festival in Spring, how would people feel about also having a Sports Festivals? We could do one for summer and one for winter!

We could have have tournaments, competitions and even workshops to learn new stuff.

[Because what's more fun than learning new stuff?? Especially when they were fun.]

If there's enough interest, I can help with the organization... but I can't run the whole thing by myself.

[ For those who may frequently keep an eye on the network, this will be a new face outside of Cinder. Gintoki plain does not use the network. But he has a couple of important announcements, and so he is here.

It takes a couple of seconds after the video turns on for him to decide that he got it right and the recording has started. Then he fiddles with the phone for another few seconds to get it into a decent position against the comic book he's laid on the table, his scowl slowly deepening until he finally leans back on the couch with a scoff. ]

Don't understand what's wrong with phones with buttons and good ol' video cameras.

[ Clearly muttered to himself, but audible.

Finally, he presses a curled fist up against his mouth and clears his throat. As his hand lowers, he puts on a somewhat disturbing smile as he reaches across the couch to pick up a bag of Special Flavor Coffee Beans. He makes a show of holding it up in front of the camera like he's in an advertisement or the TV shop or something, and speaks with a clearly fake enthusiasm that anyone who knows him would know is sort of uncharacteristic. ]

Miss out on getting your own bag of Special Flavour Coffee Beans at the charity auction? I've got a bag right here and I'm willing to part with it to the highest bidder! The bidding starts at a thousand Moon Coins.

[ I beg your deepest pardon. Don't they just sell that coffee at Moondrop anyway? Honestly, he doesn't know.

And then he just tosses the bag onto the couch like it's not precious. As he keeps talking, his voice settles into his usual lackadaisical drawl. ]

I'm also looking for a tailor. More exactly, someone who can tailor kimonos. See this?

[ He holds up his arm to fully show the blue cloud-like pattern at the end of the sleeve of his kimono. ]

This is a custom pattern fit for a protagonist. I got thrown into this place with just one of these kimonos, and that's unacceptable. I can't go around wearing plain yukatas most days of the week, I need my kimono!

[ Oh, suddenly the passion is back in his voice. It sounds way more real than his ridiculous coffee bean advert voice. He suddenly leans his head back against the backrest of the couch, covering his face with one hand. ]

I'm an embarrassment to my kind!

[ After a second or so, he seems to compose himself, lifting his head again to stare blankly into the camera. ]

And I could use a couple of haoris too. Oh, and you should give me some of them for free, 'cause it's my birthday. Everybody say happy birthday to Gin-san. I accept cakes, parfaits and chocolate.

[ Didn't even properly introduce himself, the nerve. He just leans forward and clicks post, or however it works. ]

I have little "life experience" outside of my work, and my interactions with mortals have been confined to that. Knowing that, I ask: what do you believe would best prepare me for life in this realm?
